Villa Torranca

When Caterina and Damiano got in touch with us, they knew exactly what they wanted: to get married near Assisi and to plan a day on which every guest, including those coming from far away, could feel at ease.

Of the 150 guests, about half were travelling from Sicily. So we designed a day that would bring together the couple's roots and the place they had chosen for their wedding: a ceremony in an old church near Assisi, among stone and pastel-toned flowers, followed by the reception at Villa Torranca, in Pianello. Here the garden looks out over the green hills and, as evening falls, the pool and the lights of the setting create just the right atmosphere to keep the celebration going.

The details, too, said something about the place and the couple. The Deruta ceramic wedding favours were a tribute to Umbrian craftsmanship, while the seating chart, dedicated to the most famous kisses in art history, added a personal touch to the setting.

The journey

From Sicily to Umbria

The first meeting

A wedding to imagine together

From our very first meetings, Caterina and Damiano told us how they pictured their wedding: a ceremony near Assisi, a reception surrounded by greenery and a day to share with everyone they loved. With about half the guests arriving from Sicily, we also paid particular attention to travel arrangements and hospitality, so that the journey would never become a worry for the guests.

Ceremony and reception

An old church and Villa Torranca

For the ceremony we chose together an old church near Assisi, with stone as a backdrop and natural light bringing out the space. For the reception, Villa Torranca seemed the ideal choice: the garden for dinner outdoors, the pool for the aperitivo and enough room to welcome 150 guests, without giving up the intimate atmosphere of a country villa.

Welcoming the guests

From Sicily to Umbria

With so many guests arriving from Sicily, it was important for everything to be easy to manage. We coordinated arrivals, accommodation and transfers, giving everyone the directions they needed to move between the ceremony and Villa Torranca. The goal was to leave guests time to enjoy the day and, for those staying a few extra days, to discover the Umbrian countryside too.

The styling project

Pastel flowers and a seating chart dedicated to kisses

For the decorations we chose a delicate palette, with blush and ivory roses, white snapdragons, lisianthus, eucalyptus and greenery. The same colours ran through the ceremony and the reception, creating continuity between the two moments of the day. For the seating chart, the idea was to play with art: «Il destino di un bacio» (The destiny of a kiss) was the common thread, with tables dedicated to artists who portrayed the kiss in their work, from Hayez and Klimt to Canova and Chagall, all the way to Giotto.

Craftsmanship

Deruta ceramic wedding favours

For their wedding favours, Caterina and Damiano were looking for something that would recall the place they had chosen to marry. Deruta ceramics, with their craft tradition and hand-painted decorations, were perfect. An object tied to Umbria, but also to a tradition the Sicilian guests could feel close to: ceramics, which are part of the culture of their own land as well.

The big day

The day began with the ceremony, between the stone walls of the church and the pastel floral arrangements. After the "I do", the couple took time for photos before heading to Villa Torranca for the reception. There, guests found the tables laid in the garden, the view over the hills and, as evening arrived, the lights strung around the pool. Between dinner and dancing, the two families came together to celebrate, giving the day the ending Caterina and Damiano had hoped for.

Between Assisi and the Umbrian hills

"About half of our guests were coming from Sicily, and we were a little worried about organising the trip. It was wonderful to see everyone feel welcome and to be able to enjoy the day without a care."
